Sharm El Sheikh stretches for more than 30 km along the Red Sea, so where you stay shapes your whole holiday. Here is a quick guide to the main areas.
Naama Bay: for walking, dining and nightlife
Naama Bay is the best-known part of Sharm. It has a sandy bay, a pedestrian promenade lined with restaurants, cafés and shops, and an active evening scene. It suits travelers who want to walk everywhere and do not mind some noise.
Nabq Bay: big resorts and all-inclusive stays
Nabq Bay, north of the airport, is home to many large resorts with pools, gardens and long beaches. It is a good choice for families and couples looking for an all-inclusive break, though you will need a taxi to reach Naama Bay or the Old Market.
Sharks Bay, Montazah and Ras Nasrani: reefs close to the airport
The coast between Sharks Bay and Ras Nasrani has resorts built close to the reef, so snorkeling can start right from the hotel jetty. SOHO Square, with restaurants and evening entertainment, is in this area.
Hadaba and Ras Um Sid: quieter, with clifftop reefs
Hadaba sits on a plateau in the south of the city, close to the Old Market. Many hotels here reach the sea by stairs or a lift down the cliff, and the reef at Ras Um Sid is one of the best for snorkeling. It is also the closest area to Ras Mohammed National Park.
Old Sharm (Sharm El Maya): local life and the marina
Around the Old Market and the marina you will find local restaurants, the Al Sahaba Mosque and a more everyday side of the city. Holiday apartments here and in Hadaba are often good value for longer stays.
