Sharm El Sheikh has a hot desert climate with sunshine almost every day of the year and very little rain. The right time to go depends on what you want from your trip.
Spring (March to May)
Warm days and comfortable evenings make spring one of the best times for both beach days and desert trips. Winds can be stronger on some days.
Summer (June to September)
Summer is very hot, often well above 35°C in the afternoon. The sea is warm and good for snorkeling, but plan desert trips and walks for early morning or evening, and drink plenty of water.
Autumn (October and November)
The sea is still warm from the summer and air temperatures become more comfortable, which makes autumn a favorite season for diving and snorkeling.
Winter (December to February)
Days are mild and sunny, while evenings and the desert can be cool, so bring a light jacket. Winter suits sightseeing, desert safaris and the night climb up Mount Sinai, where it is cold at the summit before dawn.
Holidays and busy periods
Egyptian public and religious holidays, school holidays and the Christmas and New Year period are usually the busiest times, so book accommodation early.
